Who we support

A home for children with nowhere else to turn

Hogar San Francisco de Asís, known simply as El Hogar, sits in the foothills of the Andes, about 30 miles from Lima. It is named after St. Francis of Assisi, the saint who cherished the poor.

El Hogar takes in seriously ill children living in poverty. They live there, with everything they need provided for as long as it takes.

St. Francis of Assisi Children's Foundation is the U.S. 501(c)(3) nonprofit that supports El Hogar, so your gift is tax-deductible.

  • Many arrive with illnesses of poverty, such as malnutrition, tuberculosis and respiratory disease.
  • Children come through social workers, local clinics, parishes and word of mouth.
  • Most of the children have lived at El Hogar for more than ten years. It has become their home.
